THE FILM OF THE DAY
Published as a six-episode serial novel in 1996, The green Line by Stephen King moves many readers. Three years later, its transposition to the screen by Frank Darabont (who had already adapted The escapees, another prison drama by the same author) acquires the status of a masterpiece. The mix of genres, between drama and fantasy, the denunciation of racism and the death penalty, as well as the extraordinary performances of Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan (nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor) allow him to achieve critical and public success and become an unmissable film. The Master of Horror himself quotes The green Line among the favorite adaptations of his works, with The escapees, Stand By Me and Dolores claiborne.
