Omicron – “We can’t risk this month of January”: Franck Dubosc postpones the release of his new film – Cinema News

Franck Dubosc’s new comedy, Rumba la vie, has been postponed for more than 6 months due to the health situation. The actor and director explains it in a video posted on social networks.

Scheduled for a release on January 19, Rumba la vie, a new comedy written and directed by Franck Dubosc, has seen its release postponed. The film will finally benefit from a summer release, set for August 24, 2022. The tour that was to launch the film has also been canceled, and will be rescheduled this summer with, in particular, outdoor screenings.

Franck Dubosc posted a video on his Facebook page to give some explanations for this choice. He indicates that this has been decided “because of all this context “, and that he “does not want to sacrifice it“.”We cannot risk this month of January which we do not yet know the ins and outs of what we will have to do“, he continues.

Franck Dubosc thanks his distributors (Gaumont), specifying that “it’s an important film, for me, for them, for all of us … I hope it will be for you too“.

Asked by Le Parisien, Gaumont evokes the current disaffection of senior audiences in cinemas: “Admittedly, currently the rooms are filled by the young public thanks to Spider-Man but in the space of 10 days, one could note a disaffection of the 50 years and more“. Rumba life aimed in particular at this older audience, the postponement was therefore decided.

Rumba’s Life Story follows Tony, in his fifties, a withdrawn school bus driver, lives alone after abandoning wife and child twenty years earlier. Shaken by a heart attack, he finds the courage to face his past and enroll incognito in the dance class led by his daughter, whom he has never known, with the aim of (re) conquering her and give meaning to his life.

On the side of the National Federation of French Cinemas, “we remain optimistic“, wrote Le Parisien in its columns this morning. Marc-Olivier Sebbag says that the profession”is in good spirits because the rooms are full. 1.6 million young people aged 15 to 24 went to the cinema from December 15 to 21, a record since 2016“.
