In “The BoysSeason 3, Episode 7 features an end credits scene for the first time in the series’ history. Of course, that would actually be a big number, but you don’t have to expect spectacular twists or a final gag like in the MCU. After all the post-credits scene remembers the second big revelation from episode 3.7 – and is literally a final round of applause for a strong episode.

The end credits scene reenacts the cartoon characters only Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) can see, who in a bloody play re-enacted what really happened between Soldier Boys and his fellow Payback crews back in 1984. The curtain rises, there is applause, Black Noir Sheep, Adler-Soldier-Boy and Co. bow – and that’s about it.
“The Boys”-showrunner Eric Kripke went in conversation with the US industry magazine Variety also goes into more detail about what the whole “Roger Rabbit” thing is about and how the scenes were shot.
“I think it’s great that we’re revealing who [Black Noir] is, and it’s even better how we do it,” says Kripke. “There are these animated characters that only he can see, and has probably been since season 1. They were with him the whole time. […] And these characters pretend to be the characters from his flashback on a stage like an elementary school play, only animated. That’s quite a lot.”
“The characters are so cute, aren’t they?” Kripke continued Variety. “My stage direction was that this should be Martin Scorsese’s ‘Snow White.’ Cute Disney characters but once the fight starts they are anatomically correctas if a real human body were subjected to such violence.”

So, now that we know Black Noir’s backstory, and we’ve seen him without a mask in the flashback to 1984, and now that we know why his face really is that badly burned, But Kripke has no plans to let him take off his mask again.
“In the flashbacks, he was a handsome young superhero who wanted to be the next Eddie Murphy, but was bullied so badly by Soldier Boy that he’s completely disfigured,” says the showrunner. “And after recovering from this and putting the mask back on, he very, very rarely takes it off – like Darth Vader. […] He’s so ashamed of who he’s become that it just felt inappropriate.”
After all, we should see a masked Black Noir in “The BoysBut watch episode 3.8 again. The season 3 finale will be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 8, 2022.
