The end of a TV era is here: On September 18, 2022, ProSieben is starting a new era in which Sunday evenings belong to documentary formats and shows. Feature film fans who have been looking forward to the highlights from Hollywood for years will then look into the tube. And it’s not just at 8:15 p.m. that there are no more feature films on Sundays – the station will also no longer broadcast any films later in the evening.
The Sunday blockbuster on ProSieben was part of the fixed TV inventory for a long time. Only very rarely has there been a break with the tradition of offering audiences Sunday evenings with cinema brands such as Marvel and “Star Wars“ and to sweeten stars like Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Co. From time to time the feature films of the NFL had to make way – for example last Sunday when ProSieben broadcast football games. But today it’s no longer an exception: ProSieben officially starts its new Sunday program.
At the end of the weekend, the cable broadcaster is now all about “Traveltainment”. This combination of “travel” and “entertainment” describes entertainment formats in which the audience is not presented with shows, games and adventures in a studio, but is taken along on trips around the world.
The first episode of “Local Hero” starts at 8:15 p.m. In this series, celebrities are sent to different countries to learn about local traditions, customs, sports or even professions in a kind of crash course and then to compete in duels. In episode 1, choreographer Nikeata Thompson and journalist Jenke von Wilmsdorff go to Mexico, where they have to try their hand at being mariachis, among other things.
At 10.45 p.m. the episode continues with “Fahri sucht das Glück”. Fahri Yardim travels the world and explores the question of what makes people happy in different countries. His first stop is Rio.
Film fans who traditionally tune in to ProSieben on Sundays must switch immediately if they prefer to continue watching movies instead of shows. For example, on Sunday September 18, 2022 we can offer you recommend the free TV premiere of the horror thriller “Wir” by Jordan Peele at 10.30 p.m. on RTL ZWEI – get ready for a nasty twist!
