The Nintendo Switch is undoubtedly a big success for the Japanese manufacturer. The fact that it is approaching 100 million copies sold is irrefutable proof. Still, more and more gamers are in a hurry to find out what Nintendo is up to for the future. For his part, the president of the Japanese group is procrastinating.
The Nintendo Switch is still in the middle of its lifecycle. In any case, this is just stated by Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo. As usual, the Kyoto firm followed the announcement of its latest financial results with a question-and-answer session with investors.
One of the latter was obviously in a hurry. Without going four ways, he asked Shuntaro Furukawa to tell him about the “next generation of hardware” Nintendo. More precisely, he wanted to have information about his “concept“as well as on the”timing of its launch.” Just that.
Nintendo Switch is not at the end of the road
Obviously, the president of Nintendo did not wish to make such revelations. However, he took this opportunity to take stock of the Switch situation:
We are unable to comment on the next game console at this time. For us, the console (the Switch) is at half of its life cycle. We believe we have established a foundation upon which to generate growth beyond what was considered a conventional hardware lifecycle.
The Nintendo Switch will celebrate its fifth anniversary in March 2022. The fact that Shuntaro Furukawa claims that the console has reached half of its lifecycle does not mean that Nintendo’s next console will be released in 2027. Nintendo for example released the Switch then that the 3DS was still in use. The Switch will therefore be able to complete its official life cycle after the release of its little sister.
Respond without saying anything
Finally, Shuntaro Furukawa slipped another word about the future Nintendo console. And once again, the president of Nintendo remained extremely vague:
As for the next game console, we are currently considering many different things. But regarding its concept and the timing of its launch, we cannot communicate anything at this time.
As indicated last week, Nintendo confirmed that it intends to release its next console in the years “20XX“According to the Japanese giant, the marketing of products that combine software and hardware is still at the heart of its strategy.
The manufacturer, however, clarified that the current shortages in semiconductors are delaying the development of the new machine. At the time of writing, nothing has leaked concerning the date of announcement of this new machine. Anyway, it is already clear that a significant level of expectation surrounds Nintendo’s next machine.
Do you think Nintendo’s next console will be significantly different from the Switch in terms of concept? Conversely, do you think it will be an evolution of the Switch? When do you think Nintendo’s next machine will be released? Can’t wait for her to come out? Tell us all in the comments below.
