After celebrating Super Mario in 2020, Nintendo is celebrating 35 years of The Legend of Zelda this year. While waiting for a new episode worthy of the name, the manufacturer improvises with the means at hand.
For all those who do not want to give in to the consumerist appeals of the Game & Watch The Legend of Zelda unveiled this summer, Nintendo Japan has just put online not one, not two, but three portals respectively dedicated to The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link and the essential Link’s Awakening. And happy birthday.
I am (not) error
For want of a compilation worthy of the name (hello The Legend of Zelda: Collector’s Edition), Nintendo has therefore chosen to come back in detail on the first three adventures of the most famous of the Hylians, by revealing a good number of vintage artworks, topspin for the occasion. The moment is ideal to rediscover in detail the characters of the Zelda series then only composed of a handful of pixels. The gallery of enemies perfectly in its own juice should bring back some good memories straight out of the 1980s to the not so young of you.. If some will undoubtedly cry blasphemy when they discover the retouching of certain visuals, how not to crack in front of the full screen artworks of the splendid Game Boy episode, which we were talking about again recently in favor of a tribute book.
These period illustrations would almost make us regret the days of old when each game release was accompanied by a proper notice. It turns out that life is sometimes well done, since the three original manuals are available for free download! The most informed will scroll to the bottom of each page, the others will click on each of these links, not without thanking us in passing:
Here is one (if not three) small shot of nostalgia all that there is more free, and the historians of the video game who hide among you will measure at its fair value this offering which emanates from Nintendo, a company which nevertheless has for used to cash everything. Is that what being 35 is?
And for those who prefer to look to the future, remember that Breath of the Wild 2 is officially expected in 2022.
