Saying that he wants to portray Egghead, the villain in the 1960s Batman, Cage wants to join Robert Pattinson in the sequel.
Nicolas Cage, who wanted to play a DC Comics villain from the 1960s, stated that he wanted to join the Batman universe with Robert Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, “The Batman” takes place outside the DC Universe, but “The Batman” is sure to have sequels to come and create a new story universe. With the movie’s worldwide box office approaching $500 million and its spin-off series to be broadcast on HBO Max, this situation seems inevitable. One of these series will be “The Penguin”, in which Colin Farrell will reprise his role in the movie.
Although there is no official statement or confirmation about the sequel yet, fans are heavily discussing which villains in the comics Batman may face in his upcoming adventures.
A remarkable statement on this subject came from Nicolas Cage. Cage said during an interview that he wanted to play DC villain “Egghead.” Stating that he hasn’t had the chance to watch the movie “The Batman” yet, but he wants to appear in front of Robert Pattinson as the villain Egghead, who also appeared in the “Batman” series of the 1960s, Cage said, “Inform Warner Bros., I’m open to the role of Egghead.”
Most Batman and comic book fans are probably not familiar with Egghead. Edgar Head, aka Egghead, played by Vincent Price, was an original character created for Adam West’s Batman ’66 series. Although he appeared in some comics later, he did not have a major role.
The original Egghead was a more ridiculous character because of the series he was in. So if Cage wants to bring this character into Matt Reeves’ dark Batman atmosphere, he’ll have to almost remake it. Even if not as Egghead, the idea of having Nicolas Cage in future Batman movies is exciting. Batman fans are eagerly awaiting how Warner Bros. or Matt Reeves will respond to this call.
