Born from the collaboration between executive producers Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple (The Sinner), creator and executive producer Bert V. Royal (Easy A) and showrunner and executive producer Tia Napolitano (Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19), this series is takes place over 3 summers: 1993, 1994 and 1995.
In 1993, a small town in Texas was struck by a tragedy: the popular and young Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt) was kidnapped. In parallel, the discreet Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia) suddenly becomes very popular before attracting the wrath of the country for not having reported the disappearance of Kate.
By alternating temporality and the points of view of the different characters, Cruel Summer is part of a fascinating psychological thriller and all in suspense, carried by a cast of young talents from the small screen such as Froy Gutierrez, Harley Quinn Smith and Allius Barnes.
