And one more trailer: Amazon has released another preview of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, getting in the mood for the upcoming start of the series. And you can also see from the new trailer that “The Rings of Power” will start soon, as more and more large effect scenes can be shown in the preview.
In any case, the series has never been able to justify the promotional price tag of more than one billion dollars (for the rights and five planned seasons) as well as in the latest previewwhich features plenty of spectacular landscape panoramas, mighty dwarven fortresses and elven cities, and all sorts of monstrous creatures.
Will that be enough to convince the numerous doubters and critics who are counting on a flop, if not financial, then at least creative and narrative? That remains to be seen for the time being – but not for too long:
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power begins airing on September 2, 2022 with a double episode. Similar to the big role model “Game Of Thrones”, the simultaneous worldwide premiere ensures that the episodes are available here at 3 a.m. All other episodes will then always appear on Fridays at 6 a.m. German time. The first season has eight episodes in total.
Unlike Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, The Rings of Power takes place in the Second Age of Middle-earth, many thousands of years earlier. Nonetheless, there are well-known characters who were alive even then, such as Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who, according to the latest trailers, is arguably something of the main character of the series.
Slightly less prominent, but still familiar to Middle-earth fans, are the dwarven prince Durin (Owain Arthur) from Khazad-dûm (aka Moria) and the humans Elendil (Lloyd Owen) and Isildur (Maxim Baldry) from the island nation of Númenór, seen in the prologue of The Fellowship of the Ring.
And the eponymous “Lord of the Rings” is already up to mischief in the Second Age: However, there is no trace of Sauron in the latest trailer (after at least his sign was visible in the previous trailer) and who is playing the big villain has not yet been revealed .
