As usual, this Sunday we present you some of the most promising restarts on Netflix. This time, these include films and series produced exclusively for the streaming service. How to get “To All The Boys” fans both a new film by those responsible for the hit trilogy as well as a new (fantasy!) series with leading actress Lana Condor. And there is much, much more…
What in our opinion during the week of July 4th to 10th, 2022 is particularly interesting and may be a case for your watch list, you can find out here, broken down by day of the week:
The week begins very quietly, because Netflix has not yet announced anything for the first two days. There are unannounced new releases on the streaming service regularly, so something could come, but there are also plenty of titles that are already available.
Even the XXL season finale of “Stranger Things“ looked? And did you know that more than a dozen Hollywood films, some of which are top-class, have been new to Netflix since Friday? In our weekly preview from last Sunday you will find the overview:
After the “To All The Boys” trilogy was such a huge success at Netflix, the streaming service immediately commissioned another teen romance from those responsible: In “The first look, the last kiss and everything in between” the main characters are already a couple at the beginning. But they plan to separate so that they can go to college free of obligations. But before that they want to celebrate a real dream date again…
There is also the new German Netflix original series “King Of Stonks” – behind it are those responsible for a big streaming hit, namely “How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)”. The series was staged by Jan Bonny, who brought an impressive drama about NSU terror to the cinemas with “Wintermärchen” in 2019.
The new satire series is about an over-ambitious tech entrepreneur whose lies and scams surrounding the IPO of his financial services company are flying in his face. The scandal surrounding Wirecard is the template, Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf Of Wall Street” was obviously also a role model:
On Thursday, fans of the children’s series can “Karma’s World” looking forward to the third season after the second season was only released a few months ago. The animated story follows protagonist Karma juggling her school duties and her dream of a rap career.
On Friday there are traditionally plenty of supplies for Netflix customers. We want to concentrate on two titles here.
“Boo Bitch” is the second work this week, which “To All The Boys” fans might be interested in. Then Lana Condorthe protagonist of the trilogy, also has the leading role in the series – which, however, takes a completely different direction:
In the fantasy comedy, Erica, played by Condor, dies shortly before graduating from high school and becomes a ghost. She must learn to deal with this new role with the help of her best friend. Eventually, she even enjoys the new opportunities that being a ghost brings with it. But is there a way to get her life back?
“The Sea Monster” is meanwhile a great animated adventure and one of those films with which Netflix wants to attack Disney, Pixar and Co. in this area. The film takes place in a world inhabited by massive sea monsters. Monster hunters set out with their ships to kill them. A young girl sneaks aboard one such venture and has an incredible adventure…
There is no announcement for Saturday yet. Maybe time for a visit to the cinema as an alternative? There are some interesting titles coming up again this week, including Best Movie Ever:
The Swedish horror thriller awaits you on Sunday “corridor” aka “Isolerad” with, among others, Peter Stormare (“Fargo”, “Constantine”). The focus is on a young medical student who actually wants to prepare for his exams in peace. But his nosy neighbor wants to make friends with him and soon he’s stuck with her jealous boyfriend who’s making his life hell…
This preview is based on Netflix’s official announcements and is just a small selection of the titles promised. However, the films and series mentioned here may also be postponed at short notice.
