Worn by Henry Golding (“Crazy Rich Asians”), the “GI Joe” saga starts again from zero with a reboot in the form of a prequel dedicated to the character of Snake Eyes, which promises to be rich in fights and stunts in view of the new images.
Eight years after the last opus to date, the GI Joe saga is back on the big screen. But with new faces since Snake Eyes presents itself as both a reboot and a prequel centered on one of the most iconic characters in the franchise. Which is no longer embodied by Ray Park but by Henry Golding, who is illustrated in the new images of the film.
Between ninjas, melee and / or stabbing and various stunts, the feature film by Robert Schwentke (Divergente 2) promises to be rich in action. But it will also be a question of building, again, the universe in which the characters will evolve: we meet there in particular the Baroness (Ursula Corbero from La Casa de Papel) and Scarlett (Samara Weaving), while mention is made of the Cobra criminal organization, sworn enemy of the GI Joe’s.
Expected on August 18 in our theaters, Snake Eyes should also focus on the relationship between the main character and Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji), who begins by being his friend before becoming his most formidable opponent.
A clash of which we see the beginnings here and which could serve as a common thread for this new version of the saga. Unless the idea is to focus on a different character for each film. In which case the production should not lack material given the density of Hasbro’s catalog, creator of the figurines with which many children have played.
