On the official site of the Sailor Moon franchise, a new two-part anime film series titled Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos was announced, which is scheduled to hit Japanese cinemas in early summer 2023. A first teaser and a visual can be found below.
The film is made by Toei Animation and Studio DEEN
»Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos« adapts the »Shadow Galactica Arc« and, like »Sailor Moon Eternal«, was created in the studios Toei Animation and DEEN. Tomoya Takahashi (»Den-noh Coil«) is directing, while Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (»JoJo«) is writing the screenplay and Kazuko Tadano is doing the character design. Yasuharu Takanashi (»Naruto Shippuden«) is composing the music.
With »Sailor Moon Crystal«, the new adaptation of the original manga by Naoko Takeuchi started in 2014. The series received three seasons, followed by the film series Sailor Moon Eternal, which came out on Netflix last year. With the two new films, the adaptation will be fully completed.
The original work was published in »Nakayoshi« magazine from December 1991 to February 1997 and is finished in 18 volumes. In this country, the series of Egmont Manga was published.
Bunny Tsukino is a 14-year-old girl. She’s bitchy, whiny, and a crybaby. She often fails tests and is always scolded by her family. But after another bad day, Bunny meets a black cat who can talk! The cat, Luna, gives Bunny the power to transform into Sailor Moon, a fighter tasked with saving the world from the Dark Kingdom and its evil ruler, Queen Beryl.
Of course, Bunny can’t do this alone, and there are others who will help her along the way.
