Wes Ball, known for the Maze Runner series, will direct the movie.
The title role of 20th Century’s new “Planet of the Apes” movie has been found. Known for productions such as “It” and “Blodline,” Owen Teague is the lead character in Disney’s new trilogy.
According to the news announced by Deadline, the first movie of the new series, which Disney has made a top priority, is scheduled to start shooting by the end of the year. Wes Ball, who will direct the film, has been working on the project since 2019 and delivered the completed script to the studio in the first weeks of this summer.
With the approval of the script, the casting for the movie, which finally started to take serious steps, has been going on since the beginning of June. Owen Teague reportedly impressed both the director and producers from his first screen test.
Details about the new trilogy have not yet been announced, but it has been announced that this new series is not intended to restart the trilogy that started with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” in 2011, but will create a new story universe connected to the previous trilogy.
The Planet of the Apes trilogy, which started in 2011, continued with “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” in 2014 and concluded with “War For The Planet Of The Apes” in 2017. The official name of the new movie is not yet known.
