In the latest edition of Empire Magazine it’s about the long-awaited sequel “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” – and some pictures and information from the new issue have now been published online in advance. While in the previous reporting he was mainly concerned with the already from “Avatar – Breaking into Pandora” well-known characters Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), this time the new character Ronal takes center stage.
Ronal is from “Titanicstar Kate Winslet, and is a member of the Metkayina Na’vi tribe, whose home is the ocean. On one of the pictures that Empire tweeted, Ronal is seen alongside Tonowari (Cliff Curtis), with whom she leads her tribe. The magazine cover was also released.
Ronal himself was also seen in the trailer, but so far hardly any details about the character were known. Kate Winslet has been interviewed by Empire some new information has now been revealed – and her character apparently fits seamlessly into the series of action heroines that James Cameron has often staged with Ripley from “Aliens – The Return” and Sarah Connor in the “Terminator” films Has. For Ronal will be a fearless warrior according to Winslet:
“She is fiercely loyal and a fearless leader. She is strong. She is a warrior. Even in the face of dire danger and with an unborn baby on board, she always joins forces with her people and fights for what matters most to her. Your family and your home.”
That doesn’t sound all that different from the description of Jake and Neytiri, who are also always willing to fight for their family – the ones in “Avatar 2” has grown by four offspring, including an adopted human child. But despite similar sentiments, it should be loud Empire friction arises between Jake and Neytiri, who are forced to leave their home and seek refuge in the water world of the Metkayina and the residents there. Don’t necessarily welcome them with open arms…
“Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” hits theaters on December 14, 2022. But before that you can also “Avatar” on the big screen – there will be a re-performance on September 22, 2022.
