The series is based on the multiple award-winning comic “Paper Girls” and wants to convince its viewers with 80s nostalgia charm and a wild mix of sci-fi and mystery – who is the “Stranger Things“-Bells are ringing, he shouldn’t be completely wrong. But instead of creepy parallel worlds in Hawkins, we explore different time planes here and can look forward to a wacky coming-of-age face that is told in the midst of an intergalactic conflict of time-traveling aliens.
It’s the morning after Halloween in 1988: in the sleepy little town of Stony Stream, four teenage girls Mac (Sofia Rosinsky), KJ (Fina Strazza), Tiffany (Camryn Jones) and Erin (Riley Lai Nelet) deliver newspapers – unaware that they are suddenly drawn into a conflict between time travelers. If you still fancy a cozy rip-off in front of a heavenly backdrop, you can definitely take a look here. The film’s obvious shortcomings are compensated for by the holiday paradise atmosphere and the actors who are willing to play – above all a good one Pierce Brosnan (“James Bond 007 – GoldenEye”), who, alongside Salma Hayek (“Sometime in Mexico”) and Woody Harrelson (“Zombieland”), is allowed to play the charismatic master thief of the old school.
