The upcoming Netflix week is all about the 4th season “Stranger Things“, so that other streaming supplies are rather rare. “Ghost In The Shell” fans can at least look forward to the second season of the sequel “SAC_2045”.
If the film and series replenishment at Netflix is as poor in terms of scope as it will be in the coming days, this is usually a harbinger that we can expect a particularly big start with the streaming service in the week, for which the appropriate stage is to be prepared. And this week is no different. So on Friday, after a break of almost three (!) years, we finally have the fourth season of the celebrated mystery hit “Stranger Things” into the house. And many people shouldn’t really care about the rest of the Netflix program at first.
Nevertheless, we would like to present the (few) other highlights for the week from May 23rd to 29th, 2022:
Monday: “Ghost In The Shell” & the German “Harry Potter”
With “Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045” Netflix has launched a new animated series in 2020 based on the popular sci-fi franchise about a dystopian future, killer robots and artificial intelligence. This isn’t so much a sequel to the cult-revered anime adaptation of the 1995 manga as it is a continuation of the equally popular series Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex. However, the animations of “SAC_2045” in particular met with little approval. Those who can overlook this can now dive into the sci-fi world again with the second season.
Also new on Monday: The Wolfgang Hohlbein film “Die Wolf-Gäng”, which was released in cinemas in 2020 and which, with its premise, is strongly based on “Harry Potter” remind. The screen adventure of a vampire-elf-werewolf trio, who are trained at a magic school, is quite entertaining, but doesn’t quite exude the magic of the great role model.
Tuesday: Reality Replenishment #1
At best, friends of dating shows will get their money’s worth on Tuesday, but at least with new episodes of a genre representative of the somewhat unusual kind. In “The Future Diary” two strangers are given a diary about their possible future love story and then see if it can actually become a reality.
Wednesday: animation for the little ones
On Wednesday, at least the younger Netflix users can look forward to “Larva: The Magic Pendant”, a short film sequel to the animated series of the same name about the two chaotic friends red and yellow. Meanwhile, older viewers with a preference for documentaries about food are more likely to reach for Season 5 of “Somebody Feed Phil”, in which the eponymous TV author continues his global culinary journey of discovery.
Thursday: Reality Replenishment #2
There is even more unusual reality replenishment with new episodes from the second season of the competition show “Insiders”, the highlight of which is that the actual competition has long since begun, while the candidates think they are still preparing. And even the little ones get with the new “My Little Pony”-Film “With Huf und Herz” offered something again on Thursday.
Friday: “Stranger Things” Season 4 – Part 1
On Friday the time has come: Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friends’ fight against the dark forces of the Upside Down finally enters the fourth round. And Netflix is now making the whole thing so big that even on the otherwise often full Friday away from the fourth “Stranger Things“-Season nothing new appears on the streaming service.
But there is still one drop of bitterness: This time there are not all episodes of the nine-part season at once, but initially only the first part (the second part consisting of only two, but super-long episodes will follow on July 1st).
With season 4 bending “Stranger Things’ is gradually approaching the home straight, as this is the penultimate season. So it is already important to give some answers to the open questions about the great mythology of the series. Not to mention that the main characters are initially in very different places and we finally have to deal with an all-new villain, of which there is an ominous foretaste of the trailer:
Saturday: “Stranger Things”-Weekend
If you haven’t had time on Friday to watch all the new episodes of “Stranger Things’ will have plenty of opportunity to do so on Saturday. Other new Netflix titles have not yet been announced for the weekend.
Sunday: time for “Top Gun 2”
Right one “Stranger Things“Fans should be through with the new episodes by Sunday at the latest. So it’s time to work off older things from the watch list or to catch a glimpse of the grandiose…
