German cinema is stuffy and boring? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! “The most beautiful couple”, which is now available as a subscription to Amazon Prime Video, refutes these prejudices. The powerful love drama with Luise Heyer will keep you busy for a long time after the credits.
“The Most Beautiful Couple” is one of those films that burns itself into the viewer’s memory. Actually, the signs are pointing to classic rape and revenge fare from Germany, but Sven Taddickens repeatedly undermines well-known genre moments to turn the stirring love drama into a completely unusual revenge film.
In the official DashFUN review, “The most beautiful couple” received a strong 4 out of a possible 5 stars. In her conclusion, our author Anje Wessels describes the film as “an emotional exploration of the traumatic aftermath of a violent act as well as an authentic love story”. A real insider tip, which you can now watch with an Amazon Prime Video subscription at no extra charge.

That’s what “The Most Beautiful Couple” is about
The young teacher couple Malte (Maximilian Brückner) and Liv Blendermann (Luise Heyer) are attacked by three teenagers during their summer vacation on a Mediterranean island, and Liv is raped. Two years later, they are still processing the tragic event, but in doing so they show strength and solidarity. Both still hold on to their relationship, even if mutual trust and their sexuality are only slowly normalizing.
One day, however, Malte accidentally meets one of the perpetrators (Leonard Kunz). While Liv just wants to forget and get on with her life, Malte is driven by a strong need for revenge. Before he can confide in Liv or the police, there is a confrontation between him and the young man – and with it a new crucial test for the relationship between Liv and Malte…
In addition to “The most beautiful couple” there is another newcomer to the Prime subscription that we would like to introduce to you…
Also new on Amazon Prime Video: “The Night Manager”
If you’re in the mood for a pleasantly old-fashioned espionage story, you shouldn’t miss “The Night Manager”. The mini-series, consisting of a completed season, is now also included in the Prime subscription and shows us “Loki” star Tom Hiddleston, how he rises from night porter to internationally operating top spy. The series is based on a novel by John le Carré and was directed entirely by Susanne Bier (“Bird Box”).
And that’s what it’s about: Since the end of the Cold War, arms and drug dealers have ruled the world. One of the most powerful of them is the Englishman Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie), who, at the time of the Arab Spring in Egypt, is planning a gigantic arms deal with the influential Freddie Hamid (David Avery). However, his mistress Sophie (Aure Atika) can no longer stand idly by.

She slips documents about the proposed deal to the night manager at her hotel, ex-British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), who promptly forwards them to friends in the British government. But Roper gets wind of it and has Sophie murdered. Years later, Pine has the opportunity to team up with British Intelligence to put an end to Roper once and for all.
