Just three months ago, Studiocanal brought together three of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s greatest action classics. Since July 2022, fans of the Styrian Oak have had the opportunity to put “Terminator 2”, “Total Recall” and “Red Heat” on the shelf in one fell swoop – and in the best quality available. Namely in 4K. Now the supporters of Sylvester Stallone should also get their money’s worth.
While there are numerous films by the cult mime (only today) as part of a gigantic, exclusive campaign for Prime users at bargain prices on Amazon – from the “Rocky” Collection* on Blu-ray for just under 13 euros up to “Demolition Man”* and “The Suicide Squad”* -, there will be three Stallone classics completely unabridged in a 4K set from October 13th:
» Sylvester Stallone Collection 4K on Amazon*
The Sylvester Stallone Collection is available exclusively from Amazon and combines three hard-hitting struggles for survival against very different backdrops – sometimes in the mountains (“Cliffhanger”), sometimes in prison (“Lock Up”) and in the woods around the small town of Hope (“Rambo”). That makes three times high tension with cult factor!
You can also get the 4K versions as individual editions, but you have to shell out a lot more for them overall. Anyone who insists on only getting such sets if they also contain films that are related in terms of content should be happier with the solo versions – and at least get the “Rambo” trilogy as a box.
» At Amazon: “Cliffhanger” 4K* / “Lock Up 4K”* / “Rambo” 4K* / “Rambo” trilogy 4K*
Your love of cinema goes far beyond Sylvester Stallone and action cinema? Also, now that the cold season is approaching, will you tend to spend more comfortable hours in front of the television? Then we have another tip for you: It’s worth checking out on Amazon right now. For Prime users there are still thousands of exclusive offers and promotions only on October 12th in all product categories. Including various 4K TVs and other home cinema equipment as well as films and series on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray at low prices:

While “Rocky” will probably forever remain the high point in Sylvester Stallone’s work for many, and in the recent past it has also been seen by his fans as the centerpiece of gigantic action star ensembles (“The Expendables 1-3”) and as a lovable killer shark ( “The Suicide Squad”) enthusiastic, especially for action fans, the 80s and 90s are a festival of testosterone-laden, muscle-packed spectacles with which Stallone burned himself into their memories. And the three films that Studiocanal now combines in the new 4K box also come from that marriage.
“Rambo” is not only one of the best action films of all time for us and, with John Rambo, not only introduced THE role that film fans associate with Sylvester Stallone alongside Rocky Balboa. While many might first think of sprawling action spectacles when they hear the name of the eponymous Vietnam War veteran, the first part, directed by Ted Kotcheff – in contrast to some of the sequels – is a relatively minimalist, atmospherically dense and incredibly gripping survival thriller , which has lost none of its appeal 40 years later.
Lock Up is one of Stallone’s unjustly neglected films. Even in the prison rip-off in which Stallone, as inmate Frank Leone, is at the mercy of the sadistic prison warden’s harassment on a daily basis, he only fights for one reason: because he has to. John Flynn’s no-nonsense, grim thriller offers straight-forward, old-school action entertainment and takes no prisoners – it’s rated 18+ for good reason.
“Cliffhanger” was one of Stallone’s biggest hits ever. The 70 million dollar mountaineering thriller was one of the XXL blockbusters of 1993 and thus not only has a place of honor in the vita of its leading actor, but also in that of the director. Renny Harlin was at that time – between “Die Hard 2” and “Deadly Christmas” – undoubtedly at the peak of his work and delivered with “Cliffhanger” highly exciting bombast cinema, which is always wonderfully entertaining. Even today.
