The glory days of cult comedies like “LA Story”, “Father of the Bride” or “Bowfinger’s Big Number” are long over for Steve Martin – all the more astonishing was the comeback of the comedian in 2021, who worked as an author and actor alongside Selena Gomez and Martin Short with “Only Murders In The Building” was responsible for no less than one of the best series of the previous year. So it’s no wonder that the entertaining investigator hit was extended directly: almost nine months after the debut of season 1 on Disney +, there are finally new episodes again.
You can now find the first two episodes of the second season “Only Murders In The Building” exclusively on Disney+. The remaining eight episodes of Season 2 will then appear again parallel to the US start on a weekly basis, always on Tuesdays. So you can stream the third chapter of the new season from July 5th.

So if you watch the two 30-minute episodes straight away, you have to wait a little longer until it continues – but you can alternatively just start with the first case of the true crime junkies and podcast enthusiasts Charles (Martin), Mabel (Gomez) and Oliver (Short) make do. Of course, it’s still available exclusively on the Maushaus streaming platform.
It’s been murdered again! Charles, Mabel and Oliver once again take the investigation into their own hands to uncover what really happened to Bunny Fogler (Jayne Houdyshell). Because the chairwoman of the board of directors of the residents’ association of the luxury apartment building in which the unlikely trio lives was murdered in a cruel manner. But by whom and why?
The search for the truth turns out to be particularly difficult this time. Due to former differences of opinion with the dead man, Charles, Mabel and Oliver are now suspects themselves! In any case, this does not make it any easier to elicit crucial information from the suspicious residents of the house when they are questioned. And then there’s a competing podcaster who knows exactly how to use the delicate situation for his own purposes. And every means is right for him to finally render the chaotic trio harmless…
The first season of “Only Murders In The Building” was not only nominated for a Golden Globe in 2022 for best series in the category “Musical and Comedy”, but there were also two acting nominations – for Steve Martin and Martin Short. Means: The strongly written series lives not only from its entertainment value and wit, but above all from its cast. And that’s exactly what will be expanded in season 2.
While Martin, Gomez and Short of course still form the center of the story, the squad of supporting actors* is also absolutely impressive: New on board are supermodel Cara Delevingne (“Valerian”, “Suicide Squad” ), Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine (“The Apartment”, “Steel Magnolias”) and cult 90s mime Michael Rapaport (“True Romance”, “Deep Blue Sea”).
