New and exclusive to Amazon Prime Video: Liam Neeson lets it rip again – and brings back memories of "96 Hours"

Although Liam Neeson announced earlier this year that he no longer wants to make action films in the future, films in which the nearly 70-year-old Irishman lets his fists fly are of course still appearing. This also applies to “Blacklight”, which is available exclusively with an Amazon Prime Video subscription from today. What is interesting about the film is that the plot is sometimes reminiscent of the film that made Neeson one of THE action stars of the present: “96 Hours”.

In it, Liam Neeson slipped into the role of former secret agent Bryan Mills, who heads to the French capital of Paris to rescue his daughter from an Albanian human trafficking ring. Meanwhile, Neeson must protect not only his daughter but also his granddaughter in “Blacklight” by Mark Williams (“Honest Thief”). Starting today, you can find out on Prime Video whether the whole thing comes close to the remarkable ruthlessness of a “96 Hours” aka “Taken”.

If you have a Prime subscription, you not only get packages sent home faster, you also have access to the Prime Video streaming service with thousands of films and series. Don’t have a subscription yet? Then you can also test Prime and Prime Video for 30 days free of charge:

The story centers on Travis Block (Neeson), a freelance “fixer” whose job includes rescuing agents from sticky situations. Travis, who lives a life of secrecy, knows his hands have gotten pretty dirty over the past few years and is trying to make a change. When an agent is killed, Block discovers that a shadowy program called Operation Unity is killing ordinary citizens for reasons only Block’s boss, FBI Agent Boss Robinson (Aidan Quinn), knows.

When Travis uncovers the truth, he enlists the help of journalist Mira Jones (Emmy Raver-Lampman). But his past and his present collide more and more when not only his daughter but also his granddaughter is threatened. Now Travis, who has some very special skills, must do whatever it takes to protect his loved ones. This is the only way he seems to have a chance to find his personal peace…

On September 30th, “Memory – His Last Order” will be released Casino Royale creator Martin Campbell already the next Liam Neeson hit on Blu-ray and DVD. As I said, although Neeson would like to give up his late career as an action hero soon, he still lets it rip one or the other time.

In “Memory” he plays the ruthless contract killer Alex Lewis, who is one of the best in his field. He doesn’t care who he kills or why. Its only limit: children are spared. And so his most recent mission also poses a problem for him, because his client (Monica Belluci) not only wants to see her son’s business partner dead, but also the teenager Beatriz (Mia Sanchez).

Lewis declines the assignment, but soon learns that one of his colleagues is now setting out to eliminate the two targets. So he decides to do everything in his power to protect the girl…
