To mixed reviews, the film “Don’t Look Up” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence signed the best all-time start for a Netflix movie.
If it did not succeed in seducing all the critics, the film Don’t Look Up: Cosmic Denial nevertheless found its audience. Launched on December 24 on Netflix, Adam McKay’s feature film (The Big Short), which notably brings together Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, signed the platform’s best start of an original film, with no less than 152 million hours of viewing recorded in barely two weeks of operation.
At the top of the ranking of the most viewed films on Netflix in several dozen countries, Don’t Look Up could also win the record for the most viewed feature film of all time on the platform, whose first place in the ranking is currently occupied by the action comedy Red Notice (another original production launched by Netflix late last year).
This triumph will surely push Netflix to extend its collaboration with filmmaker Adam McKay. However, it will be necessary to wait until the latter finishes the production of his next film, Bad Blood, a dive behind the scenes of Silicon Valley with Jennifer Lawrence, awaited exclusively on the platform… AppleTV +.
