To attract the biggest Hollywood stars in its original productions, Netflix did not hesitate to put its hand in the pocket by offering staggering salaries to Daniel Craig and Julia Roberts.

Hollywood stars now have millions of good reasons to shoot for Netflix. Our colleagues from Variety indeed reveal the staggering salaries offered by the platform to attach the services of the biggest names in cinema to the credits of its original productions.
Thus, Daniel Craig was offered no less than $ 100 million to shoot the two suites of A Knives Out, a salary of 50 million per film or double his emoluments for Dying Can Wait, his final appearance in James Bond (bonus not included).
Mark Wahlberg was also heavily paid by Netflix to star in the action film Spenser Confidential ($ 30 million), salary equivalent to that earned by Leonardo DiCaprio to appear in the film Don’t Look Up. His playing partner Jennifer Lawrence will receive, for her part, “only” $ 25 million, a sum which nevertheless ranks her at the same level as Julia Roberts for the thriller Leave the World Behind also expected soon on the platform.
The other streaming platforms already seem ready to match these staggering salaries. So, Dwayne Johnson is going to be paid $ 50 million by Amazon Prime Video to produce and appear in the Christmas action comedy Red One. For the purposes of the King Richard biopic dedicated to the father of Venus and Serena Williams, Will Smith was paid $ 40 million.
Faced with such a surge in wages, it should come as no surprise that Hollywood superstars are now favoring SVOD productions over feature films intended for theaters. Provided of course that this new economic model withstands the weight of the years to come …
