Netflix announced that the methods of measuring viewership rates have been changed from the two-minute system to the hourly system, and has launched a new website that includes the weekly most watched productions.
To determine the most watched titles, Netflix used how many people watched the content for at least two minutes within 28 days of its release. Netflix, which has made a change in this method, will now base on how many hours a single production is watched in total. In line with these changes, the platform also launched a new website featuring the most watched productions in more than 90 countries.
Top 10 Netflix titles on the websiteis shared transparently for how many hours any content is watched weekly or in total. As before, the Top 10 list on the platform will continue to be updated daily. In addition, the newly launched website will update the most watched productions of the week every Tuesday. On the website, the top 10 most-watched movies in four categories: English-language films, non-English-language films, English-language serials and non-English-language series can be viewed worldwide and on a country-by-country basis.
Netflix Launches A New Website Featuring Most Viewed Movies
The new measurement method implemented by Netflix, the American audience measurement and rating system NielsenIt’s pretty similar to ‘s measuring system. Nielsen; While it includes information about how many minutes are watched for the productions broadcast on Apple TV +, Disney +, Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video platforms, the new website launched by Netflix will present the viewing rates on an hourly basis. Pablo Perez De Rosso, head of Netflix content strategy, explained that after evaluating different options, they think the hourly metering system is the most reliable way to measure a production’s popularity as well as overall viewer satisfaction. Although Netflix still keeps information such as the budget / revenue ratios of the productions and how many people watched and completed a production in total, these changes in the method of measuring the viewing rates can be seen as a positive step in data transparency.
According to the data published on the new website, Red Notice is currently number one in the most watched movies worldwide, while Squid Game is at number one in the non-English TV series category with a total of 43 million hours of viewing during the week of November 8-14.
