The sixth season of “Peaky Blinders” is coming to Netflix. The show, starring Cillian Murphy, will air on the platform on June 10. Season six will be the final season of the hit series, although a film adaptation is also being worked on. The film is scheduled to go into the set phase in 2023.
The show’s final season will air without a single major character: Aunt Polly, played by Helen McRory. McRory tragically died of cancer last April. “I think this is the culmination of the series that hopefully improved last season and pushed to make the newest one in the richest and deepest way possible, partly because of all the pandemic events happening around the world, and of course, the loss of Helen McCrory is truly saddening,” Murphy said. I think we’re committed to making this a special series and we’re committed to working hard. I think the fans will be delighted!”
Murphy continued his words as follows; “I think the whole series really respects and honors him. His presence and character are still felt in the series and that’s a big part of Tommy’s journey through the season. Without him, he’ll be different, you know. It just won’t be the same. Because of how extraordinary he was as an actor and as a person. “I’ve mentioned that and it’s a huge loss not just for our show but for the entire acting community. My thoughts are always with his wife and kids. I hope the show lives up to his memory.” said.
The UK-based gangster drama will premiere on the country’s channel, the BBC, on 27 February.
