Actress Mylène Demongeot has died at the age of 87. The actress was known for her roles in “The Witches of Salem”, “Hello sadness”, “Fantômas” or even “Camping”. She had been nominated for the César for her performances in “36 quai des Orfèvres” and “La Californie”.

This Thursday, December 1, the writer and journalist Henry-Jean Servat announced the death of Mylène Demongeot. The actress died at the age of 87 following a long illness, according to information from Free lunch. For several years, the actress battled peritoneal cancer. In an interview given to Audience in January 2022, she revealed to be in remission:
A few days ago, during my control scan, my doctor told me: “You are cured!” I jumped to the ceiling.
Mylène Demongeot also claimed to be aware that cancer “would probably bother her until the end”.
A career spanning nearly 70 years
After beginnings as a model, notably for the photographer Henry Coste, Mylène Demongeot built a career of nearly 70 years in cinema and television. She plays in her first film children of love in 1953, at just 17 years old. The feature film that reveals it is The Witches of Salem by Raymond Rouleau, in which she gives the reply to Simone Signoret and Yves Montand. His performance also earned him a BAFTA Award nomination.
The actress then turns under the direction of Otto Preminger for Hello Sadnessby Mauro Bolognini in The boys, by Jean Becker in tender thug or his companion Marc Simenon on many occasions (The Mushroom, Signed Furax), until the accidental death of the latter in 1999 after 31 years of marriage. She also embodies Hélène in the saga GhostsMilady in the two parts of 3 musketeers by Bernard Borderie and Laurette Pic in the trilogy Camping.



Mylène Demongeot was twice nominated for the César Award for Best Supporting Actressfor 36 Quai des Goldsmiths and California. In recent years, she has appeared in particular in the series No Limit, Cain and Captain Marleauas well as in the movies midwife and Retirement home.
In August 2018, she declared during an interview for West France :
Life, we only have one. You have to get high to make it go as well as possible. (…) I built the life I wanted, I would start all over again, and continue until the end. I go straight ahead, and live in the moment.
