Warning ! The following article goes into detail on the twenty-fifth and final episode of season 5 of My Hero Academia. If you haven’t seen it yet and don’t want to know anything about its content, you are strongly recommended to stop reading now.
Started on March 27, season 5 of My Hero Academia ended this Saturday in a final energized and very promising for the sequel. The wait for the next episodes may be long for the only viewers of the anime after a cliffhanger that promises to upset everything in the universe of our heroes.
If she had followed to the letter the chronological order established by the author Kōhei Horikoshi in his manga, the adaptation should have ended on the internship of Midoriya, Bakugo and Shoto at the Endeavor agency. But, presumably for the sake of censorship, the anime has chosen to reverse the final two arcs of this season. For this reason, and after several weeks of grueling viewing between fights, spurts of blood and revelations, it was calmer moments that came to conclude this last episode.
Batipsé “Under an Azure Sky”, it opens with the rise of Shigaraki as the new leader of the Super-Powers Liberation Front after having succeeded in enslaving Re-Destro and his 100,000 or so supporters. Now allies, the two groups begin to set up their final plan against the heroes.
The whole thing under the eyes of Hawks, infiltrated with the Alliance on behalf of the government since the beginning of the season. A little flashback also reminds us that the number 2 in the ranking had to assassinate Best Janist to assert his loyalty to Dabi alias Crematorium. During this espionage phase, Hawks therefore collected several information on this famous attack planned by the villains, which they forwarded by coded messages to Endeavor.
During this time, Shigaraki, freed from his past, underwent painful experiences under the yoke of scientist Daruma Ujiko. Convinced by the theory of the alteric singularity which says that powers keep evolving and that man will soon no longer be able to contain them, the latter tries to make Shigaraki’s body more resistant, so that he can withstand the full power of his Quirk. The young antagonist is now able to disintegrate everything he touches, even indirectly.
Passed the opening Merry-Go-Round of MAN WITH A MISSION, here we are back in the classic manga timeline, a month after the creation of the League of Special Power Liberation, and sometime after the end of the internship arc at Endeavor. The opportunity to come back to the second-A, in full training in high school. Faced with an All Might proud of his charges, the young heroes show off the techniques they acquired during their apprenticeship. Midoriya, in particular, shows off her newfound mastery of the black whip.
At the same time, Present Mic and Aizawa try to recover from their visit to Tartare prison, where they discovered that Black Mist is none other than their childhood friend, Oboro, who died on a mission years earlier. . But the two professors are quickly interrupted in their discussion by the Big Three, worried about Eri’s condition. The little girl’s horn seems to be making her suffer again, a sign that her “rewinding” quirk risks slipping out of her hands again.
On the side of our apprentice-heroes, once training is over, Midoriya and Bakugo meet in All Might’s office to take stock of the former holders of One For All. If the ex-number 1 has managed to recover a lot of information, the second and third possessors of power remain (strangely) impossible to identify.
The second trimester is finally coming to an end and there are only three months left before the end of the year. Taking advantage of a little respite, the class gathers happily around a festive meal, far from the evil plans of the Alliance and their new sub-figures. Outside, Aizawa and All Might discuss the future of their students. Ready to draw a line on his past as a hero, All Might reveals to his colleague that he has decided to live despite everything, going against the vision of Night Eye which nevertheless assured him a death in combat.
The episode ends with the Jaiku hospital where Professor Daruma Ujiko works. Thanks to the various information communicated by Hawks during his infiltration, all of the heroes …
