“Morbius”, the next film from Sony studios from the Spider-Man universe unveils its new trailer. Images more convincing than the first trailer for the vampire.
Who is Morbius?
Morbius was created in 1971 by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. He is basically a brilliant scientist who is trying to find a cure for a blood disease from which he is afflicted. If he gets his way, a horrific side effect overwhelms the doctor. Indeed, if he is well cured of his disease, he becomes in return a vampire. He can no longer stand the sunlight and continually becomes thirsty for human blood. He is torn between self-loathing and his desire to live. More anti-hero than villain, Morbius has often faced Spider-Man but has also sided with him, especially in stopping Carnage.
True Dr Jekyll and Mister Hyde, the character will soon be appearing in the cinema, in front of Daniel Espinosa’s camera. To embody it, Sony hired Jared Leto, back in a comic book adaptation after his disappointing incarnation of the Joker in Suicide Squad.
A new, more convincing trailer
A few months ago now, Sony has unveiled the first images of Morbius. Unfortunately, at the time, this first trailer was generally poorly received. It must be said that the aesthetic presented did not announce anything good. Many have pointed out the lack of flavor of these first images.
This new trailer tends to reassure us a bit. The aesthetics of Daniel Espinosa, to whom we owe in particular Life, Close security and Easy Money, seems more worked. Jared Leto gives the impression of being more convincing in the skin of the living vampire, and action sequences gain strength.
Many connections with the MCU
But above all, what’s interesting about this new trailer, these are the different connections with the rest of the Marvel universe. As discussed in the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the Spiderverse and the MCU become one. Morbius also seems to be registered in the MCU. Already, Michael Keaton is from back in the skin of the Vulture, an antagonist that he embodied in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and that we had not seen since. Then, around a plan, the Oscorp building makes its appearance. An important element since this is the first time that mention has been made of the company of the Green Goblin in the MCU.

Finally, the trailer concludes with a nice little valve in honor of Venom. History to remind that all this takes place in the same universe. One question remains, however: Did Morbius come from the Venom universe and was brought back into the MCU as the latter? Or does it come straight from the MCU? In this second case, how does he know the existence of Venom?
This is all still a bit complex, and the film’s release on January 19 will provide some answers. In addition to the presence of Jared Leto in the main role, the rest of the cast consists of Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Tyrese Gibson and therefore Michael Keaton.
