The “Mongeville” series, with Francis Perrin and Gaëlle Bona, stops this evening on France 3 after a last unpublished investigation entitled “Armed concrete”. But the fans will not be entitled to a real ending. Explanations.
End clap for Mongeville on France 3. The channel will in fact broadcast this evening at 9:05 pm the 26th and last episode of its successful detective series carried by Francis Perrin and Gaëlle Bona. And unfortunately, the fans, just like the comedians, will not even be entitled to an end worthy of the name.
Entitled “Béton armé”, this final episode of Mongeville, launched in 2013 on France 3, takes the form of a most classic survey, sprinkled here and there with humor and emotion. No “real retirement”, therefore, for judge Antoine Mongeville, nor a new start for police captain Valentine Duteil at the end of this episode.
The chain having refused to order a concluding episode, with a view to being able to rebroadcast the series in the future, regardless of the episode and its order in the chronology of the seasons, as the producer Alexandra Clert explained in 2020 at Micro of Télé Loisirs.
“It is a decision of France Télévisions which wants to renew its brands, change its editorial line. It is a shame, because it is a series which has an immense success. (…) I proposed to offer a final episode to the public but I was refused on the pretext that each episode of Mongeville is completed at the end, that there is no chronology and therefore can be broadcast in any order “.
And if Anne Holmes, director of French fiction for the France Télévisions group, confided at the beginning of the year that she was obliged to stop certain series to make room for new fictions (“We have too many things that work. At one point, if we don’t launch new fictions, we will purr. But to launch new products, we need space (…) I am therefore obliged to stop series that are ten years old, even if they are a hit “), Francis Perrin had a hard time accepting the end of the series and the conditions under which he was made aware.
“I was very disappointed, it’s a funny way to do it”, lamented the main actor of Mongeville in the columns of Télé Star following the confirmation of the end of the adventure on France 3. “I wasn’t expecting a thank you but at least a phone call. I don’t like the contempt with which the viewer is treated either. I would be given a unit but I didn’t see it coming “.
The televiewers will therefore have to be satisfied this evening with a last unpublished investigation of Mongeville and Duteil by way of farewell.
But, fortunately, Francis Perrin has not been idle since the end of the series since he appeared this summer in Tomorrow belongs to us on TF1, in the role of the father of William Daunier (Kamel Belghazi). And we will see him at the beginning of the year 2022, on the front page always, in season 6 of Sam, where he will lend his features to the lover of a new character played by Chantal Ladesou.
