“Mom, I missed the plane (it’s starting again)” is now available on Disney +. This time, the story focuses on little Max, played by Archie Yates. But what happened to Kevin McCallister?
Mom I missed the plane (it’s starting again) : focus on this suite
After the two classics by Chris Columbus, released in 1990 and 1992 respectively, Disney has decided to produce a new sequel to these Christmas comedies. At the time, Chris Columbus hired the youngster Macaulay Culkin as little Kevin McCallister. The latter is forgotten by his family who are leaving for the Christmas holidays. He then finds himself alone at home and must face off against a duo of thieves called the Float Breakers. The two Mom I missed the plane report more than $ 836 million in box office revenue, and quickly become cult films. Subsequently, three other films saw the light of day, without the presence of Macaulay Culkin or that of Chris Columbus.
Now that the 20th Century Fox is owned by Disney, the studio with big ears was able to produce a new license opus : Mom I missed the plane (it’s starting again). This new episode is directed by Dan Mazer, who notably realized Dirty Grandpa and English wedding, but who is also famous for his work as a screenwriter – he participated in the writings of the two Borat, of Ali G, or even Bridget Jones Baby. In front of the camera, Archie Yates replaces Macaulay Culkin in the role of the little child forgotten by his family. Likewise Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney are the new Float Breakers and succeed Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The feature film is available on Disney + since November 12th.
Where did Kevin McCallister go?
The peculiarity of Mom I missed the plane (it’s starting again) is that this is not a classic remake. The film is actually a disguised sequel set in the same universe. So, Kevin McCallister logically still exists in this new chapter. Disney even offered Macaulay Culkin an appearance in Mom I missed the plane (it’s starting again), but the latter refused. The firm therefore set its sights on Devin Ratray, who was already playing at the time, in front of Chris Columbus’ camera, Buzz McCallister, Kevin’s big brother. The actor is therefore back in the skin of his character. He became a police officer and made his rounds in the city.
If Kevin McCallister doesn’t appear in the movie, Dan Mazer does not fail to give us his news. Indeed, the character is quoted discreetly in Mom I missed the plane (it’s starting again). It is his older brother who explains that Kevin has become the boss of a company specializing in home alarms. No more system D, Kevin has become a home protection professional. A logical continuation when you know the way in which Kevin fought off the Float Breakers.
