Attention, we have to reveal in this article the end of the second season “Bridgerton”… which disturbs some fans since Anthony and Kate’s wedding is not shown. A producer of the Netflix hit has now explained this decision.
Unlike in the fictitious 19th century of the “Bridgerton” world, no one today is dependent on a printer to publish their own opinion. A quick tweet is enough. In this way, the feedback reaches those responsible for the immensely successful Netflix series very quickly. Some opinions seem almost unique (for example, we read the complaint that the more than nine-hour long second season was seriously too short), others are shared by many people – in two senses – and that sometimes leads to a reaction to the responsible.
No visible wedding for Kate and Anthony: The explanation
The plot of “Bridergton” Season 2 consists essentially of the fact that Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his sweetheart Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), despite obvious mutual affection, do not want to marry for reasons and finally do it. However, we don’t get to see the ceremony and that displeases some viewers, so producer Chris Van Dusen now via TVLine made the following statement:
“When it came to tone, we wondered how Kate and Anthony’s wedding would compare‘ says Chris Van Dusen, referring to the lavish wedding between Anthony and Kate’s sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran), which is extensively portrayed in the series and which falls apart at the last second when Edwina realizes in front of the altar that the groom wants her sister. “The Queen paid for Edwina and Anthony’s wedding and she didn’t want to do it twice” continues Chris Van Dusen.
Anthony and Kate had a rather small celebration, and the “Bridgerton” creative team was apparently concerned that the event would have looked poor. “Also there is the bond between Kate and Edwina. Her sisterly love story with Kate was just as important as the great love story between Anthony and Kate.” Apparently, they didn’t want to deprive the sisters of space by putting the focus back on Anthony and Kate with a wedding scene.
It is doubtful whether the dissatisfied fans will be satisfied with this explanation. Whether the creators have to worry about that, but also – “Bridgerton” Season 2 is currently the undisputed number 1 on Netflix anyway.
