Miramax studios sued Quentin Tarantino, who plans to sell unreleased footage from Pulp Fiction in NFT format, for infringing his copyrights.
At the beginning of this month, Quentin Tarantino, announced that it will bid unreleased footage from the 1994 movie Pulp Fiction, parts from the original script, and commentary on the movie in NFT format. Miramax sued the director, claiming that the studio owns the copyright to the unreleased footage from the film. Miramax studios included the following words in their warning letter: “To protect the intellectual property rights of Pulp Fiction, one of Miramax’s most iconic films, we have to sue one of the most valuable collaborators with. If not challenged, Tarantino’s behavior may lead others to believe that they similarly have the right to offer copyrighted content, even though we have the rights to develop, market and sell the NFTs included in our rich movie library.”
Tarantino’s lawyers, in response to Miramax’s accusations, made the following statements: “According to the contract between Tarantino and Miramax for Pulp Fiction, the director has the right to release the soundtrack, the rights to the script, as well as the release of the script in any format, whether comic book, novel or electronic. spin-offretains the rights to the films, remakes, and sequels.”
