French publisher Microids, with double-digit growth for several years, will set up in China. A “representative” office more precisely will be opened soon. The beginning of WORLD domination?
Microids is indeed proud to announce the opening of a “representative office” in China in order to continue its activity, initiated almost 3 years ago. According to the publisher made in France, “this new office is part of a deployment policy and will have as main goals the distribution of games in the catalog, as well as the establishment of agreements with Chinese publishers and studios, all in relation with the parent company in France ”. What to establish even more massively?
Microids: On foot through China
On the spot, Microids is already represented by Wenbin Zhang and works in close collaboration with Yves Bléhaut, Senior VP Strategic Partnerships at Microids. But this only seems to be the beginning of a proper settlement in the Middle Kingdom.
As recalled Microids, the leap forward in recent years has not gone unnoticed in the industry. With 85% of its turnover achieved internationally and growth of over 50% per year for 4 years, the publisher now wishes to pursue its strategy of growth and international expansion.
Microids is best known for its adventure games, but it has also been able to diversify its catalog to articulate it around 4 axes, as he reminds us. Adventure games, therefore, but also racing games, retrogaming and games from strong licenses.
This year, the French firm is offering “its biggest line up” with, for example, the releases of Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The First Cases, The Smurfs: Mission Malfeuille, Marsupilami: The Secret of the Sarcophagus, Asterix & Obelix: Slap them All! or Gear.Club Unlimited 2 Ultimate Edition as well as new titles that integrate the My Universe range, with My Baby – Dogs & Cats, Interior Designer and Doctors & Nurses.
What to see coming?
Here’s what the main protagonists say, starting with Yves Blehaut, Senior VP Strategic Partnerships at Microids.
After the opening of a representative office in Japan in 2019, this new office is part of our policy which aims to deploy the activity and name of Microids internationally and more particularly in Asia. We have complete confidence in Wenbin Zhang, who represents Microids on Chinese territory. We are delighted with this strong progress within the group.
The Boss of Microids, Stéphane Longeard, also has a few words about this establishment:
The opening of this representative office in China allows Microids to confirm its international development. With a strong presence in Europe through iconic licenses, our arrival will make it possible to make our various titles known on the Asian market but also to forge agreements with local companies and help them, by bringing our expertise as publisher and distributor, to develop around the world.
