The movie “Metal Gear Solid” does not advance the masses despite the presence in the cast of Oscar Isaac. The actor gave news of the project, moderately encouraging.
The film Metal Gear Solid with Oscar Isaac?
We’ve been hearing about a movie for years Metal Gear Solid. But by force, difficult to really believe in this adaptation of the famous video game saga. However, there would be plenty to do with this franchise. Remember that the video game itself is strongly inspired by cinema (with references to Carpenter or John Woo). We follow it first Solid Snake, an elite soldier tasked with infiltrating the fictional island of Shadow Moses where a hostage situation takes place. Above all, this is where nuclear facilities are located. And the terrorists, named after the Fox Hound unit and led by Liquid Snake, directly threaten the White House.

There would therefore be material to make an exciting and effective film. Nothing but the script, we obviously think back to Rock by Michael Bay (another influence assumed). But the cinema has so far never managed to go very far in the development of such a project. However, two years ago we learned thatOscar Isaac was going to embody the hero under the direction of Jordan Vogt-Roberts. An interesting choice which was above all to allow launch the production.
A project is still in the pipeline
Obviously, the Covid-19 pandemic did not help the film move forward with Metal Gear Solid. IGN nevertheless wanted to have information on the evolution of the project by questioning Oscar Isaac, on the occasion of promoting the series, Moon Knight. Although the video (below) is short, the comedian takes the time to explain that the project is not buried. On the other hand, production does not seem to have changed much yet since there would be not even a script for the moment.
We are looking like Solid Snake. We crawl through air ducts, looking for history.
We will therefore have to be very patient with Metal Gear Solid. Given the good results of certain adaptations of video games to the cinema in recent times, we still have hope.
