Metal Gear Solid movie: nothing goes for the adaptation of the cult saga

The movie Metal Gear Solid on the way to becoming a cursed project that will never be released or in a complicated state? Everything is at a standstill.

Metal Gear Solid movie hits a stalemate

In a recent interview, Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Star Wars 7) who will play Solid Snake said he hopes the film will be released one day. Yes, he “hopes” only when the project has been formalized for years. The announcement of Jordan Vogt-Roberts as director was made in 2014 – for a project mentioned in 2006. Since? Little information here and there, including the confirmation in 2019 of the actor of Oscar Isaac for the role of Solid Snake.

We want it to happen. Be happy. What is the scenario? What’s the story? What is the chosen angle? (…). I am hopeful that it will come to fruition because there is so much potential. It’s an amazing game. It’s my favourite.

In March, Isaac was already saying that the teams “were looking like Solid Snake” a story. In 2018, Jordan Vogt-Roberts had a script he was proud of. It was a very Kojimaesque adaptation that didn’t lean into an exact copy of any particular MGS game, but it also didn’t go against what fans love about Hideo Kojima’s franchise. He was even ready to sacrifice profitability to have the most solid film possible and in the spirit of the saga with this mixture of realism and fantasy.

Four years later, back to square one without a script in hand… Will the new Kojima Productions studio in Los Angeles, specializing in films, series and music, be able to give the necessary impetus to this Metal Gear Solid movie? Mystery…
