When 13-year-old Vic (Sophie Marceau) moves to Paris with her parents, a new life begins for her. She quickly finds a new best friend in Pénélope (Sheila O’Connor) and falls head over heels in love with Mathieu (Alexandre Sterling) at a party. But where there is happiness in love, grief is usually not far away. Vic’s parents have affairs and break up and Mathieu has another one too…
“La Boum – Die Fete” became a mega hit in the 80s – not only in France, but worldwide. In Germany, too, thousands of viewers, especially young ones, made the pilgrimage to the cinemas to enthusiastically follow Vic as she mastered the turbulence of puberty. Richard Sanderson’s catchy tune “Reality”, which also sounds in the trailer, which Vic hears on her Walkman in the film, became a world hit thanks to “La Boum”.
Now you can see “La Boum” again in the cinema. As part of the “Best of Cinema” series, the cult classic will be shown again in cinemas across Germany on June 7, 2022 – and the visit is worthwhile.
Because not only the many people who still celebrate “La Boum” from back then as their favorite film and who enjoy the re-release simply because of the nostalgic feelings should have fun. The puberty portrayed in “La Boum”, the first love and the lovesickness that quickly follows are timeless after all!
