Available for free for download and accompanying “Matrix Resurrections”, “Matrix Awakens” is a visually insane interactive technical demo; technology showcase to promote the Unreal Engine 5 engine.
Last week the studio Epic games took advantage of the showcase offered by the ceremony of Game Awards to unveil the first images of Matrix Awakens; a technical demo intended to promote the new in-house tool: the engine Unreal Engine 5, which will be available in 2022.
A game engine that will be found not only at the heart of many upcoming video game productions, starting next year, but also as a tool for “virtual” productions like The Mandalorian, which uses the engine. Unreal Engine to reproduce the environments.
Accompanying the release of Matrix Resurrections, this impressive interactive technology demonstration, completely free, is available for download on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.
Here it is, below …
With the exception of a brief clip showing Keanu Reeves in white space (and a few seconds of clips from the movie The Matrix), the cast and characters are fully digital recreations, including when Neo sleeps on his keyboard.
Directed by Lana Wachowski, this demo offers an absolutely stunning rendering. Because even if some sequences are scripted, the recreation of Manhattan and the level of detail are crazy, be it passers-by, vehicles and buildings, with the effects of lights and particles that go with it.
And now, let’s have a dream, not so long ago: to walk in the next few years a Open world with such a level of detail, like the already ultra awaited GTA VI … A dream certainly, but which does not seem so distant any more than that when one sees what the graphic tools are capable of today.
