The long awaited “Matrix Resurrections” trailer is finally here! On the program: impressive images, the return of Neo and Trinity. And a new Morpheus?
The time has come to take the red pill again! The universe of Matrix is back in the cinema with a fourth opus, Resurrections. In the plural, as if to mark the rebirths of the saga, of Neo and Trinity, and the reincarnation of Morpheus, who now has the features of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Candyman) as shown in the trailer finally revealed.
However, it may be a false trail, in this trailer that plays on the feeling of déjà vu with images reminiscent of previous episodes. Still, the character seems to occupy the same function as in the 1999 film (with the same glasses), being again the one who “wake up” the hero still embodied by Keanu Reeves.
Having become Thomas Anderson again, he is assailed by dreams that the blue pills he swallows on a daily basis do not manage to make disappear. But his meeting with the woman who has the features of Carrie-Anne Moss will allow him to realize that his visions may be more valid than he thinks. And propel him through the looking glass, like Alice in Lewis Carroll’s novels.
Directed by the only Lana Wachowski, without her sister Lilly, Matrix Resurrections will be released on December 15 in our theaters with several challenges to overcome. And in particular to succeed in relaunching the machine, which is based in part on the notion of a loop as the first suites explained, hence these echoes in the previous sections. Or even try to revolutionize action cinema in the same way it had done more than 20 years ago.
We will still have to wait three months before being fixed, but the director announces the color with a palette a little sunnier than in the previous films, dominated by green and gray / blue. And the few action scenes interviewed here seem to contain some crazy images that could, once again, blow the audience away.
This trailer also allows you to meet the new faces of the cast, including Neil Patrick Harris as a shrink and Jonathan Groff who could well be the new agent Smith. But it raises a lot of questions. On how the hero will resurrect and the secrets that this iteration of the Matrix has in store for us. See you on December 15 for, hopefully, an early Christmas present.
