The final battle of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings could have been more deadly! A cut scene from the Marvel film indeed reveals that a character, alive and well at the end of the feature film, was initially to perish.
Warning, this article contains spoilers for the end of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Before The Eternals, currently in theaters, Marvel introduced viewers around the world to another unsung superhero to the general public: Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu.
After many adventures, this martial arts master finds himself having to save the legendary village of Ta Lo, where his mother (Fala Chen) comes from, from a horde of soul-devouring creatures freed by his father (Tony Leung), the leader of the Ten Rings criminal organization.
Faced with these monsters who attack all the humans they meet, the members of the organization prefer to join the villagers in a battle of the most deadly for both camps. And it turns out that the villain played by Florian Munteanu, Razor Fist, had to lose his life at this point in the film.
This is revealed in a cut scene from Destin’s feature film Daniel Cretton, shared by IGN, in which Wenwu’s disciple encourages Katy (Awkwafina) to continue fighting with a rather touching speech, before sacrificing himself so that Shang-Chi’s best friend can shoot an arrow down the evil Dark Host’s throat and allow the hero to defeat him.
In the final version of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Razor Fist does not perish during the clash and even joins the new organization of the Ten Rings teased in the post-credits scene, now led by Shang-Chi’s sister. , Xialing (Meng’er Zhang). And the compassion he shows in the cut scene is not at all present in the film as it was ultimately edited.
