The current strategy of Marvel vis-à-vis video games is to entrust its licenses to various partner studios. Which could have led to big hits like Marvel’s Spider-Man as well as lesser-loved titles like Marvel’s Avengers. While Marvel Games has just released Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in partnership with Square Enix, the Disney subsidiary is already looking to the future. And in this future is a new title led by the creator of one of the biggest licenses of PlayStation.
Skydance New Media, the studio run by Amy Hennig, just announced the development of a new Marvel AAA game. According to the official press release revealing this project, this is about a blockbuster Action-Adventure game. Amy Hennig obliges, the narration will be at the heart of the project.
No details have been provided for the moment about the Marvel universe concerned by this new AAA game. Skydance New Media has simply indicated that it will offer a story and an interpretation “completely new“from the Marvel Universe.
In order to carry out this project, the American studio explains having assembled a team of developers with “decades of experience in AAA Action & Adventure games“And that’s not all. Amy Hennig and Marvel make read between the lines
Amy Hennig obviously welcomes this partnership. The declaration of the co-director of the first three Uncharted regarding the announcement of the first game from his studio suggests that this new title will play well-known Marvel heroes:
It’s an honor to be able to tell an untold story with all of humanity, complexity and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring. It is also an honor to allow players to be the heroes they love.
The stated objective of Skydance New Media is to provide experiences with high quality graphics and “richly interactive. “These experiences will be aimed at traditional gaming platforms as well as”emerging streaming services“according to the studio. Everything therefore leads to believe at the moment that this new Marvel game will not be exclusive to a single console.
No indication as to the date of proper presentation of this mysterious title has been given. Marvel Games simply promises to release more information about the game “at the appropriate time.”
