THE THREE FACES OF THE MYTH DIEGO MARADONA
Almost a year after his disappearance (November 25, 2020), a biopic series celebrates the life and career of Diego Maradona, the Argentine football icon. Entitled Maradona: the blessed dream, this new original Amazon Prime Video production is co-written and directed by filmmaker Alejandro Aimetta with the particularity of retracing the life of Pibe de Oro (Editor’s note, The golden kid in French) over three different eras.
Thus, three different performers were chosen to embody Maradona on three distinct temporalities: Nicolás Goldschmidt lends him his features in the scenes that retrace his youth in the poor neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, Nazareno Casero embodies him during his football career and it is Finally is Juan Palomino who encapsulates him in the last years of his life.
A long-term project developed over several years, Maradona: the blessed dream benefits from a comfortable but necessary budget to retrace the main lines of the life of the Argentine genius. Following his adventures in the cities that have marked his career (Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Naples …), the series traces the legend’s greatest successes as well as his excesses and setbacks of all kinds.
Unveiled this Friday, October 29, the eve of Maradona’s birthday (born October 30, 1960), the series Maradona: the blessed dream is now available on Amazon Prime Video (5 episodes available). A second season of ten episodes has already been ordered by the platform.
