France 3 is broadcasting this Sunday evening the 3 episodes of “Manhunt: on the trail of the killer”, a British series adapted from a true story which follows the hunt for a serial killer in the early 2000s.
What is it about ?
In August 2004, Amélie Delagrange, a 22-year-old French girl, was brutally murdered with a hammer, on her way home after an evening spent with her friends. Assigned to the case, Colin Sutton believes that the crime could well be linked to those of Marsha McDonnell and Milly Dowler, killed respectively in 2003 and 2002.
Manhunt: on the track of the killer is broadcast this Sunday evening from 9:05 pm on France 3.
With Martin Clunes, Katie Lyons, Claudie Blakley, Peter Forbes, Stephen Wight, Celyn Jones …
A chilling true story
Based on the memoir of Colin Sutton, a British investigator, Manhunt: On the Trail of the Killer is a 3-part series that tells us the true story of the hunt for Levi Bellfield, a serial killer who raged in England between 2002 and 2004. The affair had caused a stir at the time, both across the Channel and here in France, since one of its victims, Amélie Delagrange, was a French student visiting the region.
Worn by Martin Clunes (Doc Martin UK version), this fiction shows viewers the evolution of the investigation, which was made difficult by the lack of information available to investigators and strives to highlight the in-depth work police officers.
A formula that turned out to be a winner since the series was a real hit on ITV. It has indeed managed to gather an average of 8.95 million viewers for each of its three broadcast evenings, thus putting it shoulder to shoulder with Bodyguard and Broadchurch. Manhunt: on the trail of the killer, which was originally intended to be a mini-series, was thus renewed for a second season aired last September in England.
