The new Netflix miniseries “Maid”, created by screenwriter Molly Smith Metzler (“Orange is the New Black”, “Shameless”), features a bespoke role for talented actress Margaret Qualley.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT ?

Single mom struggling to make ends meet finds a job as a housekeeper …

Maid created by Molly Smith Metzler from the book by Stephanie Land – Available on Netflix

AN UNIQUE MOTHER / DAUGHTER MEETING

Adapted from the autobiographical work by Stephanie Land Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Surviv, Maid is the new original miniseries to check out on Netflix. This drama follows the first-person story of a financially struggling single mother who decides to become a housekeeper to support herself and her child.

Although this is her very first creation, Molly Smith Metzler is nevertheless an experienced screenwriter, with collaborations on successful series like Orange is the New Black and Shameless. Dramas tinged with acerbic humor which is precisely claimed Maid, thanks to the often disconcerting voice-over narration of its main protagonist.

The lead role of the miniseries went to Margaret Qualley. The new muse of American independent cinema, revealed by The Leftovers, is no longer to present: seen recently at Tarantino (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood), the young 26-year-old actress gives the reply for the first time to her career to his mother Andie MacDowell in Maid.

Poignant tale of a woman confronted with the abuse of an abusive husband, also a portrait of an America hit hard by financial difficulties, the miniseries Maid (10 episodes) is to be discovered this Friday, October 1, exclusively on Netflix.
