Netflix has just unveiled a first trailer for season 2 of Locke & Key as well as its release date. The sequel to this adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s comic books will arrive just in time for Halloween.
Locke & Key season 2 is finally revealed in a first trailer posted online by Netflix. We learn at the same time its release date, next October 22, just before Halloween.
The series, based on the comic books by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, seems to be moving away from the narrative of comics and forging its own path. The dangers and the magic will hold a priori an even more important place there than in season 1.
Locke & Key stars Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones and Jackson Robert Scott as the Locke siblings, who move with their mother Nina (Darby Stanchfield) to their father’s family home after he is brutally murdered.
Within Keyhouse (the name of the impressive mansion), children discover a series of magical keys that grant all kinds of abilities: becoming a ghost, teleporting anywhere, or even looking inside your own head. They also face dark forces who search for the keys to unleash hell on Earth, led by a form-changing demon calling himself Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira).
Locke & Key’s first season ended on a cliffhanger. The Locke children come face to face with Dodge, who managed to escape by unwittingly possessing their friend Gabe (Griffin Gluck).
The trailer for the new season highlights some real differences from the original comics, while still following the spirit of the graphic novel. It shows the Locke children increasingly using the keys to protect Keyhouse from Dodge in the guise of Gabe. While the first season was more interested in the daily life of the Locke, it seems to plunge more frankly into the fantastic with great reinforcements of special effects.
