“Lightyear”, the Pixar film on Buzz Lightyear, is revealed in a trailer that promises adventure and emotion. Announced in theaters, unlike “Soul” and “Luca” on Disney +, we can discover it on June 22, 2022.
Pixar unveils the trailer for Lightyear
He is one of the most famous characters in the Pixar galaxy. Buzz Lightyear, the legendary “Space Ranger” but above all Andy’s ultra-sophisticated toy and one of the heroes of the saga Toy story. Introduced in the first film in 1995, he is convinced that he is indeed a Space Ranger, and not a toy. Which makes the character all the more endearing in his quest for heroism and leadership. First rival of Sheriff Woody, long favorite toy of Andy, the two will quickly become inseparable and lead together the adventures of the four films of the immense saga. And without a doubt the most popular and beloved movie series from Pixar studios.
As announced at Disney Investor Day 2020, Buzz Lightyear does have his solo film, titled Lightyear. This one is coming in the summer of 2022 and is revealed today as a trailer (at the head of the article). And other good news, it will be presented in theaters!
Remember, there was an outcry in March 2021, when Disney announced which of its productions would go exclusively to the Disney + platform. In the lot, Luca, originally announced in theaters and finally returned to the platform. A decision that was not a first, since already Drunk, a previous Pixar production, had experienced the same fate in the winter of 2020. Of course, COVID-19 constrained releases. But it was also the perfect opportunity for Disney to try things with its streaming platform. Angry at what they perceived as a lack of respect, Pixar studios expressed their incomprehension.
Back to normal for Pixar?
Luckily for Lightyear and Turning Red, the next two Pixar animated films will have another treatment. It has indeed been announced that they will be sent in cinemas, a priori exclusively. Good news for the studios, and good news for the public as the images of the trailer for Lightyear are already dreaming. On a cover of Starman by David Bowie, we see Buzz Lightyear embracing his dream. In Lightyear, it is therefore not a toy, but a “Space Ranger”. We will therefore witness a space adventure, at the edge of the universe where several adventures await it. There is an air ofInterstellar, but above all strong references to the universe Star wars.
The film is directed by Angus MacLane and Buzz is voiced by Chris Evans. As usual, Pixar seems to have gone to great lengths for its 3D animation. For example, we expect an exceptional level of detail (see the smoke from the thrusters on take-off). The visual adventure will therefore be part of the game, as well as the emotion with the story of this character unlike any other. See you in the rooms June 22, 2022.
