Discover “Mensonges”, a new event series broadcast on TF1 with the talented Audrey Fleurot and Arnaud Ducret as headliner. A series adapted from the British program “Liar: the night of the lie”.
Lies : What is it about ?
The plot of the first season of Lies revolves around Thomas, a renowned surgeon, and Jeanne, professor of philosophy as well as sister of one of the caregiver’s colleagues. After much hesitation, the first – pushed by his son, a pupil of the second – resolves to suggest a meeting to the newly single teacher. Jeanne accepts and both therefore share an evening that is both particularly romantic and full of hope for the future. Unfortunately, things don’t take long to get out of hand.
The next morning, Jeanne wakes up groggy: her memories come back to her in bits and pieces. Worse, she is convinced of having been raped by Thomas. The latter, stunned by his accusations, denies outright any deviant behavior towards him. However, things do not take long to know and the two are caught in a devastating whirlwind, dragging their families and friends with them into an infernal spiral. It’s Joan’s word against Thomas’s – and no one will come out unscathed.
For the little story, Lies is in fact the remake of a british series baptized Liar: the night of lies. Aired over two seasons from 2017 to 2020, the program featured Joanne Froggatt (Anna in Downton abbey) as well as Ioan Gruffudd (The Fantastic Four). They are Alexandra Julhiet (Research Section) and Laurent Vignon (HPI) who sign the adaptation of the show initially created by Jack and Henry Williams, to whom, among other things, the excellent The Missing.
Lies, as a good psychological thriller, should therefore reveal step by step gray areas on the existence of its two protagonists. Like an investigator, the spectator finds himself caught in the crossfire and is forced to form your own opinion as to the identity of the holder of the truth – before seeing his hypothesis confirmed or invalidated.
A cast of choice
Now a muse assumed by TF1 thanks to his two main roles in The Bazaar of Charity and HPI, we find Audrey Fleurot in the skin of Jeanne. In front of her, the actor and humorist Arnaud Ducret, who finds after his interpretation of a fictional Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès in An ordinary man a new and most dramatic role. The young Jean-Stan du Pac (Braille Heart) plays Lucas, the surgeon’s teenage son. Arielle Seménoff (Tomorrow belongs to us) plays for its part the mother of Thomas and grandmother of Lucas.
Among the supporting roles, we find the talented Alice David, revealed by Short and recently crossed at the bend of 10 days without mom. Olivia Coast (The Time of Secrets) and Lionnel Astier (Hero Corp) camp two police lieutenants responsible for clarifying the evening shared by Jeanne and Thomas.
