As season 5 of “Legends of Tomorrow” finally arrives on Netflix on January 15th, we take a look back at the first four with the top of the series’ best episodes. If you’ve never watched this crazy superhero show, these episodes will be a good start.
What’s this Legends of Tomorrow ?
Since 2016 Legends of Tomorrow, spin-off ofArrow, recounts the adventures ofa group of superheroes on a mission through time to save the universe from a whole bunch of supervillains. At their head, there is first Rip Hunter, a former master of time who decides to recruit a team. But who says time travel says consequences for the future. We then learn that the different protagonists chosen by Rip are those with the least impact on the future. Clear, the worst superheroes whose disappearance won’t change a thing.
So go on an adventure aboard the Waverider ship, Sara Lance, Mick Rory, Firestorm, Ray Palmer or even Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Over the seasons, they will cross paths with Constantine in particular, while Sara will end up taking the reins of the Waverider and characters like Zari, Nathaniel or Charlie will replace members of the team. The characters therefore evolve greatly in Legends of Tomorrow. And the show itself has changed style, with a fairly serious first season typical of an Arrowverse production, and more and more shifted following, carried by a spirit of self-mockery and meta to tend more towards a series like Doctor who.
It is for these reasons, and because season 5 is coming to Netflix, that we offer you the five best episodes to get you started in Legends of Tomorrow.
Raiders of Lost Art – episode 9 season 2
After the attack on Darhk in 1967, the apprentice director George Lucas gave up the idea of making films, an Aberration that endangered the very existence of the Legends.
The principle of time travel allows in particular Legends of Tomorrow (and Doctor who, among others) of having fun with pop culture elements. So, what could be better than going to visit George Lucas, who was still a student and who was just starting to think about Star wars. Except that the Legends being particularly clumsy, they will have a harmful influence on the filmmaker who will no longer have any desire to make his famous franchise.
The Lance Community – episode 15 season 2
To destroy the Spear of Fate, the team seek out JRR Tolkien at the front lines during World War I, but the power of the Spear wins over one of their own.
As with episode 9, here we are tackling another saga anchored in the collective imagination: The Lord of the Rings. Even though this episode focuses primarily on its author Tolkien, the series indulges itself with references to his literary work and adaptations. All while placing us in the midst of world war for a fascinating and rich episode.
The good, the bad and the tender – episode 18 season 3
The Legends meet in the Wild West with pirates, Vikings and Romans to annihilate Mallus once and for all.
Probably one of the best episodes of the series. The one who definitely rocks the show in a real WTF and who is clever in the use of superheroic codes. Because besides the presence of pirates, Vikings and Romans in the middle of the Wild West, there is this delusional ending. While a titanic fight between the Legends and the demon Mallus is expected, the superheroes only manage to transform into a … Giant Beebo! A very cute blue plush that we will gladly find later during the series.

A unicorn in Woodstock – episode 1 season 4
After the Legends defeat Mallus and erase the last anachronism from their time-space, they find themselves in a new situation with the Time Office. All of that changes when Constantine informs Sara of a new magical threat that leads the team to Woodstock.
This episode is the perfect start to a new season. The Legends land in Woodstock at the end of the 1960s and then started a real trip. Psychedelic atmosphere, 70’s split screen and to top it off, a killer unicorn who after a few minutes pierces and devours a hippie with his horn. An entire program !
The rebellious fairy – episode 2 season 4
When the magical Time Seismograph goes off, the team goes to the Salem Witch Trials. Sara notices that Zari takes the matter personally when she promises to save a mother accused of being a witch. However, the team quickly learns that a magical creature is present in town, which poses unexpected problems. Meanwhile, Nate and Ava work together to keep …
