The lead role was found for the live-action adaptation of the classic cartoon “He-Man: Masters of the Universe,” and rising star Kyle Allen joined the cast. In “Masters of the Universe,” Allen will play an orphan named Adam, who discovers that he is a prince candidate destined to be the savior of a distant land. The man will try to quickly learn about his strength and the importance of freeing his real home from an evil force. The project, which was previously featured in Sony Pictures, was officially announced by Netflix after months of development. People familiar with the deal said Sony will retain the broadcast rights for the project in China.
The Nee Brothers co-wrote the script with Dave Callaham (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”). Brenner and Kevin McKeon will lead the Mattel Films project. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch (“Being the Ricardos”, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) will produce with DeVon Franklin. In 1983, the animated series “He-Man and Masters of Universe” premiered and became one of the first children’s programs to be broadcast on television.
