One could almost get the feeling that no series on Disney+ will start on the originally scheduled date: After “Obi-Wan Kenobi” recently began with a double episode on a Friday and then slipped to the usual Wednesday date, the next “Star Wars”-Series “Andor” postponed and now starts almost a month later, but with three episodes at once. And now “She-Hulk” has it too.
As Marvel has now announced in a new mini-trailer, “She-Hulk: The Lawyer” will only start on August 18, 2022 and thus one day later on Disney + – and as the first MCU series ever on a Thursday! All previous series had always continued on Wednesdays or Fridays.
The reason for the shift should be relatively simple and obvious: Disney+ now has more and more big, prestigious series and you run the risk of stealing the limelight and audience from each other.
In any case, it is certainly no coincidence that “Andor” and “She-Hulk” are now relying on a new publication model or a postponed weekly rhythm, after “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Ms. Marvel” mostly ran in parallel on Disney+ every Wednesday. And at least in the case of “Ms. Marvel” is known to have been less successful than previous MCU series.
By keeping “She-Hulk” now until September 21, 2022 (the launch day of “Andor”) withoutStar Wars” competition can run and the two series then get new episodes on different days, you don’t dig up the water for each other.
She-Hulk is about the lawyer Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) whose blood is one day mixed with that of her cousin Bruce Banner aka Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). She also gains the ability to transform into a green-skinned rage monster and She-Hulk is born.
Now Jennifer not only has to undergo a Hulk training course with her cousin, she also has new tasks waiting for her: As a superheroine and lawyer, she is predestined to take care of cases involving people with superpowers…
