Two Faces Revenge
Alex Lutz says it himself: La Vengeance au triple gallop is loosely based on the famous Australian saga / series The Vengeance with Two Faces, the very one he watched in the company of his grandmother when she asked him. “To light up his novel”.
The tribute is found in her pitch which has many points in common with the soap of the early 80s: the story of a rich heiress with bland beauty named Stéphanie Harper, in love with a man who only wants to his money, and which is left for dead afterwards, not a horse race, but a crocodile hunt.
Whether it was Rebecca Gilling at the time, or Audrey Lamy this year, each Stephanie Harper will miraculously be saved and instigate revenge while having her face reshaped, all to reclaim her life and her paradisiacal property in Eden.
The Young and the Restless
From a sketch between Audrey Lamy and Alex Lutz parodying The Young and the Restless, La Vengeance au triple gallop obviously pays homage to the most cult (and long) series of the genre.
And this especially when Stéphanie, now Dolly Praners, asks a driver to drive her to Genoa City, the imaginary city in which the adventures of Victor Newman, Jack Abbott and the others take place …
Santa Barbara fans could not miss the nod to this 80s soap opera in The Vengeance at the Triple Gallop, since a journalist bears the name of Lockridge, the surname of one of the rival families of the series.
With an epic opening credits combining the faces of the cast with images of jewelry, buildings, cars, fields as far as the eye can see and other bottles of champagne, Dynasty is obviously one of the great references of La Vengeance au triple gallop.
The name of Crystal Clear, character played by Leïla Bekhti, evokes that of Krystle Carrington in the original series and Cristal Flores in the 2017 adaptation, while that of Marion Cotillard (the demonic Kim Randall of the magazine Randall Podium) is not not unlike the famous villain Joan Collins, alias Alexis Colby in Dynasty, with her thousand outfits, hats and lines that kill.
Love glory and beauty
Love, glory and beauty, words that make you dream, but above all a source of inspiration for La Vengeance au triple gallop which offers a fashion show filmed in the same way as in the soap opera opposing the Forresters to the Spectra.
Undoubtedly less famous than The Young and the Restless and other Dynasties, Scrupules is nevertheless a reference of La Vengeance au triple gallop. This saga with Lindsay Wagner and Marie-France Pisier describes Billy Ikehorn’s rise in a fashion world filled with vipers. A little air of Dolly Praners / Stéphanie Harper, right?
Alex Lutz and Arthur Sanigou couldn’t miss Dallas writing and directing La Vengeance au triple gallop.
Ewing fans must have thought about the series’ legendary tanker ball during the Remington Hall benefit concert sequence where Craig Danners (Alex Lutz) takes Dolly Praners to see Debby (Izia Higelin) perform at the piano.
After being disfigured by a puma, Stéphanie Harper is saved by plastic surgeon Danley Marshall Windkins (Gaspard Ulliel). This will then repair it internally, and externally.
If this romantic surgeon / patient romance can recall those that we could see in Hôpital Central, the spirit of the series is found especially in the incredible scenes of operation, and which undermine medicine …
Tomorrow belongs to us, Dolmen, Suspects, A good lesson …
Less a wink than a symbol, the presence of Ingrid Chauvin in the cast of La Vengeance au triple gallop evokes in itself a whole section of tricolor sagas and soap-operas. “To pay homage to TV, I wanted to have a real TV star in the cast. She was brilliant, she has a job, and knows the constraints of short filming ”, moreover confided Alex Lutz.
