The mini-series “La Corde” is the new proposal of Dominique Rocher, noticed for “The night has devoured the world”. We explain to you why this Arte creation is likely to be a success.
The rope : What is it about ?
The rope is an adaptation of the eponymous text signed by the German author Stefan also ask siepen. It all starts in Norway. Initially, scientists discover a rope in a forest. Seemingly long, no one can tell where it ends and what is at the end. From then on, a gallery of characters finds itself split in two. On the one hand, those who think that staying at base camp is a good thing. On the other, we find those who choose to follow the rope, driven by an insatiable curiosity, to discover the truth. The situation is even more complex because no means of communication is allowed on site. The fault with the astronomical observatory which is in the vicinity.
If the end of the story will not be revealed here, we can on the other hand say that all the protagonists will live an experience that will work them deep inside. The concept is tantalizing, especially since it pits a band of scientists against an event that defies their logical sense. Such a situation can only give birth to real psychological triturations. We expect more The rope on its ability to make us dizzy than to offer a clever M. Night Shyamalan twist.
In the cast of the series
It is therefore this seductive pitch that Dominique Rocher takes hold of, to whom we owe the bold and challenging zombie movie The night has devoured the world. We have been waiting since 2018 to see him again in action and he surrounds himself with a pleasant cast on paper. We find in particular French actors (Jean-Marc Barr, Jeanne Balibar, Christa Théret) as well as the always talented Suzanne Clément. Note also the presence of Richard Sammel, who distinguished himself as Sergeant Rachtman in Inglorious Basterds, as well as that of Tom Mercier, the brilliant first role of Synonyms.
The rope starts on January 27 on Arte.
